Experience 5 days Murchison Falls National Park adventure, the largest national park in Uganda, located in the northwest, it spreads inland from the shores of Lake Albert around the Victoria Nile up to the Karuma Falls. Murchison Falls National Park is Uganda’s largest national park with approximately 3,893 square kilometers (1,503 sq mi).  This exciting safari gives you a chance to see the “Big Five” animals such as buffalos, elephants, leopards, rhinos, and lions.  You’ll enjoy various thrilling activities, from exciting game drives to relaxing boat rides and even chimpanzee trekking. This trip promises to create amazing memories with nature and wildlife that you’ll cherish forever. 

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

On the first day of your 5 days Murchison Falls National Park adventure, our driver guide will meet you in either Kampala or Entebbe. They’ll go over the details of your trip before taking you to the national park. The drive to the park will take around 5 to 6 hours, and you’ll see some amazing sights along the way.

Your first stop will be at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, where you’ll have a memorable experience and the opportunity to participate in rhino tracking. This is a fantastic experience, and you’ll get the chance to see a variety of wildlife during your trek. After that, you’ll continue your journey to the park, stopping for lunch in Masindi town at the MASINDI HOTEL

After lunch, you’ll head to Murchison Falls National Park and visit the top of the falls for breathtaking views of the waterfalls, surrounding landscapes, and local wildlife. Finally, you’ll check into your lodge for dinner, some relaxation, and an overnight stay at PAARA SAFARI LODGE.

Day 2: Morning Safari drive and hiking to the top of the Falls

After a leisurely breakfast on the second day of your 5 days Murchison Falls National Park adventure, your guide will meet you at the lodge for a morning game drive. During this adventure, you’ll have the chance to spot four of the magnificent big animals: buffalos, elephants, leopards, and lions. You’ll also see a variety of other wildlife like Uganda Kob, bushbuck, duiker, giraffes, warthogs and defassa waterbuck roaming the grasslands, along with hyenas and various birds. After the game drive, you’ll head back to the lodge for lunch.

After your meal, prepare for an exciting hike to the top of Murchison Falls. The waterfall, which stands at 141ft high, sits between Lake Kyoga and Lake Albert on the Victoria Nile and for those who feel like stretching their legs, the hike to the top of Murchison Falls is well worth the effort. Hiking to the top of the falls will expose you to Mother Nature’s wondrous gorge, also known as the devil’s cauldron.  You will see masses of water trying to squeeze through the narrow gorge of about six meters. Along the trail, you will enjoy the view of Murchison Falls National Park and the Albert delta. While at the top of the fall, you will enjoy the view of the falls from above, the birds flying over with the symphony they create with their many voices, it’s indeed magical. You will also get a chance to see many butterflies. After your hike to the top of the falls, return to the lodge for dinner and some time to relax before bed.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking in Budongo Forest

On the third day of your 5 days Murchison Falls National Park adventure, start the day bright and early with a tasty breakfast. After you’re done eating, meet up with your safari guide who will take you to Budongo Forest for a briefing. This briefing will cover the important rules you need to follow while trekking to see the chimpanzees.

Once the briefing is over, you’ll head into the forest with the park rangers, who know the trails well. It can take anywhere from half an hour to four hours to find the chimpanzees, as they are always on the move looking for food. During your trek, keep an eye out for other primates, various bird species, and different types of trees and plants.

When you finally find the chimpanzees, you’ll get to spend an hour observing them in their natural habitat. You’ll witness their behaviors, such as how they eat, care for their young, play, fight, and groom each other. Feel free to take photos and videos during this hour-long experience.

After your time with the chimpanzees, you’ll head back to the lodge for a late lunch. The rest of the day is yours to relax and enjoy at your leisure.

Day 4: Boat Cruise on the Nile Delta and Evening Game Drive

On the fourth day of your 5 days Murchison Falls National Park adventure, you’ll start with a tasty breakfast. Afterward, you’ll meet your driver guide and head over to Paraa Jetty for a boat cruise on the Nile Delta that lasts about 3 to 4 hours. While cruising, you’ll have the chance to spot many animals, including elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, and Nile crocodiles. You’ll also see a wide range of birds, such as turaco. the shoe-billed stork, dwarf kingfisher, Goliath heron, white-thighed hornbill, and great blue turaco, all against stunning natural backdrops.

Once the boat ride ends, you’ll go back to the lodge for lunch. Take some time to relax before heading out for an evening game drive in the park to catch a glimpse of any animals you may have missed the day before. After this exciting adventure, you’ll return to the lodge for dinner, unwind, and enjoy a restful night.

Day 5: Heading Back to Kampala

After enjoying a relaxing breakfast on the final day of your 5 days Murchison Falls National Park adventure, you’ll check out of the lodge. Then, you’ll meet your driver guide to start the trip back to Kampala, stopping for lunch along the way. Once you reach Kampala, your driver will take you to Entebbe International Airport for your flight or wherever you need to go.

This marks the end of your 5 day Murchison Falls National Park adventure.
