Detailed itinerary of 7 Days Gorilla Trek Uganda & Rwanda
Day 1: Arrive in Kigali and transfer to Volcanoes
On arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative and after a short briefing about the safari you will depart for Volcanoes National Park. From Kigali City, it is a journey of 2 hours with a drive through the spectacular terraced hills, arrive in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Wake up early for breakfast and head to the park’s headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking and the dos and donts, the briefing is conducted by a senior ranger and in groups of 8 people you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek then head to the starting point for gorilla trekking.
With armed ranger and guides, you will trek into the forests of Volcanoes National Park in search for mountain gorillas. The trek takes approximately 30 minutes – 6 hours depending on the gorilla family you are trekking and its movement. When you find the gorilla family, you will spend one hour in the presence of the gorillas while watching them play on tree branches, mothers taking care of their young ones, silverbacks protecting their groups and take beautiful pictures of them (as long as your flashlight is off).
Trek back to the park’s headquarters where you will meet your guide and head to your lodge for an evening of relaxation. Have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 3: Golden Monkey Trekking
Have early breakfast and head back to the park’s headquarters, this time for briefing about golden monkey trekking and the dos and don’ts. You will then head into the forests of Volcanoes looking for the golden monkeys which are found in the Bamboos, golden monkeys are very playful creatures and when you find them. You will enjoy watching them play on tree branches, picking shoots which they eat and take beautiful pictures and video.
Trek back to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon, you will go for a visit to the Twin lakes of Bulera and Ruhondo for a boat cruise and enjoying scenic views. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Trek Dian Fossey’s visit and transfer to Uganda
Enjoy breakfast and head to the park for another adventure, that is walk to the iconic Dian Fossey’s Grave, on this walk you will learn about the interesting efforts of Dian Fossey towards the conservation of mountain gorillas and her research. You will also visit her Grave and pay your respects.
Return to the lodge for lunch then depart for Uganda with border crossing at Kyanika, arrive in Bwindi impenetrable national park in the evening, check into your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking
Wake up, have early breakfast and head to the park’s headquarters for briefing about mountain gorilla trekking. A senior ranger will take you through the rules and regulations to follow while in the forests of Bwindi, in groups of 8 people you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek and then head into the forests of Bwindi looking for mountain gorillas. The trek takes 30 minutes to 6 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorilla family you are trekking, when you locate the gorillas, you will spend one hour in the presence of the gorillas.
You will watch the gorillas play in the forests, pick fruits they eat as food, groom each among others. Trek back to the park’s headquarters, meet your guide and head to your lodge. Spend the rest of the day at the lodge or go for a visit to the Batwa Local Community for a cultural experience. Have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 6: Visit Lake Bunyonyi
After breakfast, you will depart for Lake Bunyonyi – the second deepest lake in Africa and the deepest in Uganda. When you arrive at the lake, you will be welcomed by the beauty of the lake surrounded by terraced hills and dotted with a number of islands.
After lunch at the lodge, you will go for a boat cruise in a local dugout canoe exploring the lake and its islands and learn more about their tradition stories. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Departure
After breakfast, you will checkout of your lodge and embark on a journey to Kampala city, along the way you will have a stopover for lunch in Mbarara and at the Equator landmark for pictures and water experience. When you arrive in Kampala, you will be dropped off at the airport for your flight back home.
