5 Days Serengeti and Gorilla Trekking in Uganda is a combined safari taking you on a safari visit to Tanzania’s top destination – Serengeti National Park and Uganda’s most famous gorilla destination – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

This combined safari offers visitors a chance to witness abundant wildlife in Serengeti national park including the Big Five (lions, leopards, cape buffaloes, elephants and rhinos) and witness the Great Wildebeest Migration if you visit in the right time.

You will also spend one hour in the presence of the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat in the forests of Bwindi impenetrable national park – home to half of the World’s largest population of mountain gorillas which is the half of the population of gorillas remaining in the world.

Brief Itinerary of 5 Days Serengeti Safari and Gorilla Trekking in Uganda

Day 1: Pick up from Arusha and transfer to Serengeti National Park

Day 2: morning game drive and return to Arusha

Day 3: Arrival in Entebbe International Airport, pick up and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable National Park

Day 4: Mountain Gorilla Trekking and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Day 5: transfer back to Entebbe and departure flight

Detailed Itinerary of 5 Days Serengeti Safari and Gorilla Trekking in Uganda

Day 1: Pick up from Arusha and transfer to Serengeti National Park

After early breakfast at your hotel in Arusha, you will be picked up from your hotel or residence by your safari driver – guide (representative of Engabi Tours and Travel) and transfer to Serengeti National Park. Along the way you will a cultural tour in the Maasai Village where you will have a deeper insight into their daily life and cultural activities.

Have en-route lunch and when you arrive in the park, you will go for an evening game drive exploring the endless savannah plains using several trails, some of the animals you will spot include wildebeests, lions, zebras, giraffes, cheetahs, leopards, jackals, hyenas among others. After the sunset, you will head to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: morning game drive and return to Arusha

Following breakfast at your lodge, you will head out for a morning game drive enjoying the magical sunrise and have a chance to see several wildlife species including the big cats and predators including lions, leopards, cheetahs, African wild dogs among others. After the game drive, you will embark on a journey to Arusha with en-route.  Check into your hotel and spend the night.

Day 3: Arrival in Entebbe International Airport, pick up and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable National Park

Wake up for breakfast and head to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight to Entebbe International Airport (early morning flight), upon landing you will be picked up by your driver guide – a representative of Engabi tours and travel and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable National Park.

From Entebbe, it is a drive of approximately 8-9 hours to get to Bwindi. Along the way you will have lunch in Mbarara and enjoy spectacular views of the terraced hills of Kisoro also known as the Switzerland of Uganda.

Arrive in the evening, check into your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Mountain Gorilla Trekking and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Have early breakfast and head to the park’s headquarters for briefing about the rules and regulations to follow during the trekking, you will be grouped into 8 people and be assigned a gorilla family to trek then head to the starting point. Trek into the forests of Bwindi looking for mountain gorillas, the trek takes approximately 2-6 hours depending on the gorilla family you are trekking and where they spent the previous night.

When you locate them, you will spend one hour in their presence while watching their behavior and how they spend their day in the jungle, taking pictures is allowed as long as your flashlight is switched off as it irritate the gorillas.

Return to the park’s headquarters to pick your gorilla trekking permits, then transfer to Lake Bunyonyi arriving in the evening for relaxation. Have dinner and spend the night.

Day 5: transfer back to Entebbe and departure flight

After breakfast, you will have a boat cruise exploring the islands of Lake Bunyonyi including the punishment island and learning more of their legendary stories, then set off on a drive back to Entebbe. Arrive in late afternoon and have your flight back home marking the end of the safari.
