This package is also referred to as The Mikeno Mist Package and it includes a three night stay in Virunga with 2 nights in Kibumba Tented Camp and one night stay on Tchegra Island. On this package you will depart from Goma Airport on Fridays at 14:00.

Detailed itinerary of 4 Days Congo Gorilla Safari From Kenya
Day 1(Friday): Land in Goma and transfer to Lake Kivu
At Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will catch your flight to Goma – Congo (Direct flights to Congo from Nairobi are offered by Jambojet), upon landing at Goma that is by midday (12:40) you will be warmly welcomed by our representatives who will help you with your luggage and head to Tchagera Island Retreat on Lake Kivu.
You will spend the rest of the day relaxing and enjoy the tranquility of Lake Kivu and its abundant bird species including White-breasted Cormorants, African Fish Eagles and Pied Kingfishers. You can also participate in some amazing activities including Kayaking, Paddle boarding and snorkeling. Have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 2 (Saturday): transfer to Virunga National Park
After breakfast, you will be picked up by your guide and after checkout you will be taken to Virunga National Park, on arrival you will head to the park’s offices in Goma to collect your permits for gorilla trekking experience. Then head into the park to Kibumba Tented Camp situated on the edge of Virunga National Park. Check in and spend to rest of the evening at the lodge. Have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 3 (Sunday): Gorilla Trekking in Virunga National Park
After an early breakfast at Kibumba Tented Camp, you will head down the hill to meet your ranger guides and have a briefing session where you will be taken through the rules and regulations to follow on the trek and while in the presence of the gorillas.
In groups of 8 people, you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek and head to the starting point for trek and head into the forests of Virunga National Park in search for mountain gorillas, the trek usually takes 1 – 3 hours depending on the location of the gorilla group being trekked and the difficulty of the terrain. When you encounter the gorillas, you will spend one hour in their presence while taking pictures and watching them go on with their daily life.
After then, you will trek back to the starting point and head to your lodge for late lunch and have the rest of the day at leisure or you can do guided nature walks and bird watching in the forests of Virunga. Have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 4 (Monday): Departure
After breakfast, you will checkout of the lodge and be transferred back to Goma Airport in time to catch your return flight to Nairobi. Upon arrival you will either connect for your international flight or to your hotel in Nairobi marking the end of the safari.
