DETAILED ITINERARY OF 3 DAYS NGORONGORO CRATER – TANZANIA SAFARI
Day 1: Transfer from Arusha to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
This 3 days Ngorongoro Crater Fly-in safari starts with pick up from Kilimanjaro International Airport upon arrival or from the hotel after breakfast, you guide will give you a short about what to expect on this safari and transfer to Ngorongoro Crater.
From Arusha, it is a journey of approximately 4-5 hours drive to Ngorongoro Crater, along the way you will pass through beautiful Maasai Villages and through the Karatu town which is a small colorful town known as an overnight stop for visitors on a safari in the Northern Tanzania Safari Circuit.
Arrive in time for lunch at your lodge and then descend 2000 feet to the crater floor for an afternoon game drive.
Ngorongoro Conservation Area covers an area of 809,440 hectares and is situated adjacent to the remarkable Serengeti national park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site and is listed as an International Biosphere Reserve.
Ngorongoro Crater is the main attraction in the area, the crater is the world’s largest unbroken volcanic crater and was voted as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa by the Seven Natural Wonders Organization in 2013. The crater is surrounded by incredibly steep walls rising 2,000 feet above the floor of the volcanoes.
The crater floor is dominated with grasslands which are home to over 30,000 animals including lions, leopards, rhinos, buffaloes, Cheetahs, Hyenas, Wildebeests, Hartebeests, Zebras, Gazelles, Elands, Hippos, Warthogs, Waterbucks, Bushbucks, Reedbucks, Bat-Eared Foxes, Painted wolves, and Servals among others.
After the game drive, you will return to the crater rim and head to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Full – day game drive in Ngorongoro Crater
On the second day of 3 days Ngorongoro Crater – Tanzania Safari, you will enjoy breakfast at the lodge and head for a full day game drive inside the crater with picnic lunch on the crater floor.
Ngorongoro Crater also referred to as the 8th wonder of the world is loved by visitors for its natural beauty and abundance of diverse wildlife, during the full day game drive you will spot many animals thriving in the savannah grasslands such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, Africa wild dogs, zebras, wildebeests, Maasai giraffes and many birds such as Flamingos, Common Ostrich, Secretarybird, Kori Bustard, Crowned Crane, Bateleur, Martial Eagle, Rüppell’s Vulture, Black-bellied Bustard, Golden-winged Sunbird among others.
When you visit Lake Magadi, you will see thousands of flamingoes around the shores of the lake and water birds.
Your lunch will be set at one of the picnic sites in the crater floor then proceed with exploring the crater. In the evening you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Masai Village Tour and Drive back to Arusha
After a leisurely breakfast, you will head to the Maasai Village in the Ngorongoro Crater Highlands for a cultural tour and enjoy some time with the Maasai people discovering their unique way of life and be entertained by lively singing and dances.
You will learn about several practices such as fire making, beadwork, visit the Bomas and also purchase handmade leather and beadwork from the villagers.
After the experience, you will embark on a 4–5-hour drive back to Arusha, on your way you will have lunch and then be dropped off at the airport for your departure flight.
