Detailed Itinerary for Combined Uganda Gorilla trekking and wildebeest migration in Serengeti National Park and Masai Mara game reserve.
Day 1: Arrival in Rwanda and transfer to your hotel
On arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will meet and greet with our representative who will transfer you to your hotel for check in and relaxation. Later in the afternoon you will visit the historical Genocide Memorial Museum which is an outstanding point of interest for visitors as it commemorates the victims of the tragic genocide events of 1994.Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda
Today after breakfast, you will be transferred by road to Bwindi the home of gorillas arriving in time for lunch and relaxation at your hotel. You may go on a village walk on stay in your room relaxing over a local beer. Late in the evening you will be briefed about gorilla trekking to get you ready for the experience the next day. Keep warm around the fire and enjoy the beautiful rain forest setting before going for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Gorilla trekking
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the Gorilla trekking briefing point where you will be taught about the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking and you will be allocated your guide and gorilla family to watch. The gorilla trek can be as short as an hour or may go up to three to four hours depending on the location of the gorilla family. After enjoying your time with these extraordinary primates, you will return to the lodge and the afternoon relaxing and reflecting on the special experience.
Day 4: Second Gorilla Trekking
After Breakfast you will transfer to the park headquarters for briefing before embarking on the second session of Gorilla trekking in Bwindi. You will have a chance to watch another gorilla family bringing with it a whole new experience and after one to three hours with the Primates you will return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch you will check out and transfer back to Kigali arriving in time for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Flight transfer to Serengeti National Park
After an early morning breakfast, you will catch a flight to take you to Kogatende airstrip in the Northern Serengeti. On arrival at the Airstrip, you will meet our representative who will transfer you to your lodge on the Serengeti side of the Mara River to settle in and enjoy your early lunch. Later you will head out for an afternoon game drive to watch the drama as the herds cross the Mara River. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Full day at the Mara River
Today you will spend your time at the Mara River enjoying the dramatic river crossings as the cats struggle to catch a meal of the days. The higher the river’s water levels the more energy is required for the crossing to start therefore you would have to wait longer for crossings on a full river.
Day 7: Mara River and Serengeti Plains
Today you will combine the Mara River with the Serengeti plains on the northern side of the river for a full experience of the Migration. Here you will see lots of interaction between migratory wildebeests, zebras and predators. The plains are a good place to follow cheetahs and lions as they lay traps. Have your lunch on the plains under an elephant pepper tree and continue to explore the Serengeti. Later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Transfer to Masai Mara side of the Mara River.
Today you will fly across to the Masai Mara game reserve side of the Mara River via Tarime and Migori to land in the heart of Masai Mara at O1 Kiombo airstrip. Here you will get the best chance of seeing the river crossings. On arrival at the Airstrip you will be transferred to your camp arriving in time for lunch before heading out for an afternoon game drive.
Day 9: Full day Masai Mara
Today you will explore the Masai Mara game Reserve from the Mara and Talek River confluence which is a good location for wildlife sightings as it’s close to the Mara River hence being ideal for river crossings. Overnight at your lodge
Day 10: Masai Mara game reserve
Today is ideal for you to explore the Masai Mara and its abundant wildlife at its fullest as this is your last day on safari. You will have an early breakfast and go out for a game drive with your packed lunch.End your day with a drink around the camp fire and overnight your camp
Day 11: End of Safari
After breakfast you will be transferred to Ol Kiombo airstrip for your flight back to Wilson airport from where you will be picked and transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International for your outbound flight back home.
