Detailed Itinerary of 7 Days Big Five Safari: Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater & Serengeti

Day 1: Pick up in Arusha, Transfer to Tarangire National Park, Game Drive

On this 1st day of your 7 days safari in Tanzania, our Tanzania safari guide will pick you up from your hotel of stay in Arusha, or the airport upon arrival. After a brief, you will proceed on a transfer to the park with your lunch box in hand. Tarangire National Park is a beautiful Tanzanian national park, introducing you to the amazing wilderness and wildlife the country has to offer.

Proceed for a game drive in Tarangire National Park, looking out for the different animals, including 4 of the big five animals, as well as gazelles, impalas, zebras, waterbucks, among others. Be sure to see different bird species as well, all punctuated by a picnic lunch in the wilderness. Chase the sunset as you drive to your camp/lodge of stay. Check in, relax as you wait for dinner and an overnight stay at Tarangire View Camp for Budget, Korong Tarangire Camp for Mid-range, Mbali Mbali Tarangire for Lower-Luxury, Tarangire Treetops for Luxury.

Day 2: Guided Walking Safari, Night Game Drive in Tarangire National Park

Wake up to a morning guided walking safari for a chance to come up close with nature and the animals in Tarangire National Park. This guided walking safari is done with park rangers who are armed. Enjoy a game drive as well, looking out for different animals that you may have missed.

Return to the lodge, enjoy lunch, and have a leisurely afternoon. After an early dinner, meet your driver guide and embark on a night game drive experience, for a chance to experience the quiet of the park and night view, as well as the different nocturnal animals. Return to your accommodation for an overnight stay as above.

Day 3: Transfer to Serengeti National Park, Game Drive

After breakfast at your lodge/camp, your guide will drive you to Serengeti National Park, which is also located in the northern part of Tanzania. You will enjoy searching for wildlife species such as the big 5 (elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos, buffalo) during your safari in the Serengeti National Park.

Enjoy a picnic lunch in Serengeti Park and then engage in a late afternoon game drive to see wildlife species such as zebras, lions, buffaloes, elephants, giraffes, elands, impalas, antelopes, among others. Day 4: Full Day Game Drive in Serengeti National Park

Spend this day exploring the vast, endless plains of Serengeti National Park. Look out for the diverse animals in Serengeti Park, especially around the Seronera Area, where the river flows, attracting numerous animals coming for a drink or dip. The big five animals, zebras, wildebeests, antelopes, giraffes, among so many others.

Have a picnic lunch in the wilderness, and then a game drive in Serengeti National Park. Chase the sunset as you drive to your camp/lodge of stay. Dinner and an overnight stay as above.

Day 5: Drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Olduvai Gorge & Maasai Bomas

After a relaxed breakfast at your accommodation in Serengeti National Park, check out with your packed lunch and drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You shall have en-route activities including visiting the Ol Duvai Gorge, and a Maasai Bomas visit for a cultural experience, punctuated with a lunch stop in the wilderness.

Proceed to the lodge, check in, and relax. Dinner and an overnight stay at Eileen’s Tree Inn for Budge, Hhando Coffee Lodge for Mid-range, Ngorongoro Oldeani Mountain Lodge for Lower-Luxury, Ngorongoro Lodge by Melia for Luxury.

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater Drive, Crater Rim Walk

Wake up to an early breakfast at the lodge. With your packed lunch, drive into the 600m deep Ngorongoro Crater, the home of all the big five animals, as well as over 25,000 animals that are resident here. Enjoy an extensive game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater floor, looking out for the different animals, especially rhinos, which are hard to find elsewhere.

Birds can also be spotted, including large flocks of pink flamingos on Lake Magadi, which is in the crater. Have a picnic lunch, stop at a select scenic spot. Enjoy yet another game drive on the crater floor, seeing more animals.

Embark on a guided crater rim walking safari thereafter, for a chance to come up-close with nature and wild game. Return to the lodge, relax as you wait for dinner and an overnight stay as above.

Day 7: Departure
