Rubondo National Park

Rubondo National Park is one of the two Tanzanian National Parks that lies on the shores of Lake Victoria, the second largest Lake in the world along Saanane Island National Park there is Rubondo National Park which is the only two Parks that are Located at shores of Lake Victoria. The park is Located at the southwest corner of the Lake, Rubondo was first established as a game reserve as a sanctuary for animals in 1965 and later upgraded and gazetted to Tanzanian National Park in 1977. Rubondo Island covers an area size of 240 square Kilometers with over 9 or 10 small islands under it, Rubondo Island National Park is uninhabited, and consequently, 80% of the Island remains forested as of Today.

Rubondo Island National Park can be accessed by boat from Kasenda, the small village near Muganza in Chato district. Or opt for a boat safari from Nkome in Geita district and also for visitors who would want to fly there is an airstrip of Rubondo which can be reached with AURIC AIR OR Coastal Aviation so here visitors are able to book their flights to Rubondo airstrip.
