Mahale Mountains National Park

Mahale Mountains National Park is a Tanzania National Park Located in the Kigoma region of Uvinza District in Tanzania and the National Park lies at the shores of the famous Lake Tanganyika the second longest and deepest lake in the World, The Park was named after the Mahale Mountains which ranges at the borders of this Park. Mahale Mountains National Park covers an area of 1650 square kilometers and is one of the two only protected areas for chimpanzees in Tanzania.

Mahale contains the largest protected population of eastern chimpanzees with over 340 bird species that also inhabit Mahal. The park is remote and not easy to access due to its size and where chimpanzees and lions co-exist, the park was established in 1985 and is renowned for its dense population of primates, however, this Park can only be accessed by Air or Water whereby chartered flights are from Arusha or Dar es salaam and stop at Katavi National Park which is neighboring national Park to Mahala and the route to Mahale Mountains.
