Tarangire National Park is famous for its diverse landscape with nine different vegetation zones. The park is particularly known for the abundance of Ancient Baobab trees (the largest trees in the continent) which fill the landscape and dwarf the animals next to them. The river of the park is full of wildlife ranging from a large variety of birds to lions, leopards, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes and, of course, elephants. Though its off the main safari route, Tarangire is a surprise package which is often overshadowed by the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater. The park is home to a huge concentration of animals in the peak season and a few visitors compared to other parks in the Northern circuit. The park is favorable to visit in July through to October and given that it’s large, it gives visitors the quietest game viewing environment of all the parks in the region
HOW TO GET TO TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
Located at a distance of about 120 kilometres in the south east of Manyara, Tarangire National Park can be reached by road or by flight. By road the distance from Kilimanjaro International Airport to the park is not a long one and it takes approximately 2 hours.

WHEN TO VISIT TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
The best to visit and view wildlife in the park is the middle and the end of the dry season which runs from late June to October. Around this time, animals gather around the Tarangire River which provides an opportunity for the best wildlife viewing.
WILDLIFE SPECIES IN TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
Tarangire is famous for a high concentration of wildlife around the Tarangire River during the dry months. The Elephants are the main attraction with up to 3,000 of them in the park during the peak season. Around this time (peak season),the park also harbors wildebeests and zebras as well as giraffes, buffalos, Thompson’s gazelles, greater and lesser kudus, elands, leopards and cheetahs.
